John Farry Lyrics
Mothers Birthday Song
She sits there in the corner in that old easy chair
Grand children all around her, not a worry or a care
Mother`s birthday is today, but she won`t tell her age,
She just smiles and winks and says" I`ve turned another page "
[11]
and as we sat there talking, as conversation flowed
the memories came flooding back of days so long ago
when she worked in the fields with Dad from morning until dusk
raising a big family on hard work love and trust
Chorus
Everybody`s loved one, everybody`s had one,
I hope that you`ll have your`s a long long time,
She brought us all into this world,
a lady with a heart of gold
Mother - sweet mother of mine
[111]
I remember well my younger days working on the farm,
She always said "hard labour never done you any harm"
And she`d never go to sleep at night for sometimes we`d be late
a dedicated mother who didn’t mind the wait
Now a whole new generation, as part of God`s great plan
has meant her name has changed and Mother now is known as Gran
And as her young grandchildren sing "happy birthday dear"
Mother gives them all a hug and wipes away a tear
Chorus/ and repeat chorus to end
Everybody`s loved one, everybody`s had one,
I hope that you`ll have yours a long long time,
She brought us all into this world,
a lady with a heart of gold,
Mother, sweet mother of mine,
That`s my mother sweet mother of mine………..
Mother, sweet mother of mine………..

THE AUCTIONEER
There was a man in this townland who was an Auctioneer,
He sold houses cattle, land to people far and near.
A bachelor for fifty years the problem seemed eternal,
He even tried the lonely hearts club in the Farmers Journal.
[1]
Every Saturday in life he ran the cattle market,
and if you drove your car to town there was no room to park it,
Jeeps and tractors everywhere, the sound of cattle filled the air,
Then you`d hear the Auctioneer echo`round the square,
Chorus:
Who`ll give me three hundred quid, who`s goinna be the first to bid, who`s goinna buy this fine young "baist" that`s in the ring today?
Do I hear three twenty five, thirty, forty , fifty five- on the market and for sale- it`s your`s kind sir today.
[2]
The widow Murphy down the road had eighty lovely acres,
On her own for thirty years with never any takers,
Sez she "I`m going to sell the land if you`ll throw me in as well",
Sez he "I`ll buy the lot meself , we`el have a private sale.
2nd Chorus: I`ll give you three thousand quid if i`m the only one to bid,
I`ll buy your land and take your hand if you`ll agree the deal,
Right sez she, then I`ll agree, if I can take you home with me, on the market and for sale it`s your`s kind sir today
[3]
The Auctioneer and his ageing bride lived on the eighty acres,
But it wasn`t long before he had to call the Undertaker,
Four weeks after she was gone, the land was up for sale,
He called a Public Auction, `twas the quickest way to "dale"
3rd Chorus
Who`ol give me a hundred Grand, who`s goinna buy this farm of land,
The finest eighty acres, that`s ever been for sale.
With a Charolais bull and fifteen cows, do I hear one twenty now,
On the market and for sale it`s yours kind sir today,
On the market and for sale it`s yours kind sir today!

THE LORD IS THE DRIVER
High up in the sky a `plane is flying,
I can see the trail from where I stand,
Like a silver eagle now it rises,
Then it`s out of sight and homeward bound,
all the passengers are praying for a safe home flight
that the man behind the cockpit door will guide them through the night…………….
Chorus
But the lord is the driver, it`s he who runs the show,
He knows where we`re coming from, and when and how we`el go,
And when the lord is the driver, he`s always in control, and you will have a safe arrival if the lord is in your soul
Instrumental Break
`way out on the sea a storm is ragin`
waves are breaking hard against the bow
the fishing crew all huddled in their cabin,
hoping they will make it back somehow,
the captain looks across the mighty ocean,
and says a silent prayer to the one that guides us all…….
For the lord is the driver,it`s he who runs the show,
He knows where we`re coming from, and when and how we`el go,
when the lord is the driver, he`s always in control,
and you will have a safe arrival if the lord is in your soul,
and you will have a safe arrival, if the lord is in your……soul

Waitin` On The Lights To Change [bridge version]
Ever sat in a traffic jam, waitin` on the lights to change,
People to the left, people on the right , everybody`s feeling the strain ,
I wonder just what`s going through their minds?
Sometimes life is a waste of time,
Stuck in a queue and sitting in the line,
Waitin` on the lights to change
Chorus
Waitin` on the lights to change, yeah, waitin` on the lights to change
We`re all in lifes great traffic jam, waitin` on the lights to change
A young girl is late for her nine to five, she`s waitin` on the lights to the change
Not a great job but it keeps her alive, and every old day is the same,
the man in the suit`ll be walking the floor, he’s a man she`d love to ignore
`hoping one day to walk out that door, she`s waitin` on the lights to change
chorus : waitin` on the lights………….
guitar/piano instrumental……….
A young man feels he`s got what it takes , he`s waitin` on the lights to change
` justs needs someone to give him a break, he`s stuck in a slow moving lane
life can be so cruel sometimes, he feels like giving up the fight but maybe there`s a tunnel with a little bit of light, he`s waitin` on the lights to change,
chorus
waitin on the lights to change, yeah, waitin` on the lights to change,
we`re all in life`s great traffic jam, waitin` on the lights to change
Bridge / and when I think about it Lord I know just how they feel,
The frustrated, complicated lives that we all lead……….
Cos I`m sitting in the traffic too, waitin` on the lights to change
Wondering what its all about, waitin` on the lights to change,
final chorus
waitin` on the lights to change yeah, waitin` on the lights to change,
we`re all in life`s great traffic jam, waitin` on the lights to change.

M Y S T E R I O U S W O M A N
Saw you at an airport, ticket in your hand,
I got a feeling in my heart, I didn’t understand,
Something in the way you were,
something foreign in your eyes
made me wish that I could share,
one moment of your life,
Chorus
Mysterious woman,
I wonder did you see,
the kind of spell you put on me,
Mysterious woman,
I wish I could find the key,
to the kind of spell you put on me
The room was full of faces,
but you stood out from the crowd,
people going places far away beyond the clouds
Were you from the streets of Paris,
or the coast of Italy,
or were you from as far away as the Gulf of Araby
Chorus
Mysterious Woman ……
Bridge
Did I imagine you smiled,
Or were my thoughts going wild ?
Suddenly you were going,
The speaker called your plane,
There was no way of knowing
If I`d ever see you again,
But this brief, so brief encounter
will always stay with me
And I will always treasure,
the bitter sweet memory
Final chorus
Mysterious Woman,
I wonder did you see,
the kind of spell you put on me
Mysterious woman,
It`ll always be a mystery,
The kind of spell you put on me…….
